We often wait until someone receives a title before teaching leadership, but responsibility should be practiced long before authority arrives. Children and young adults can learn to keep commitments, solve problems, accept consequences, serve others, manage themselves, and carry increasing responsibility. Early practice gives leadership muscles time to develop before the stakes become much higher.
