Simple Insights

Character is essential, but good intentions and moral sincerity do not automatically teach someone how to communicate, delegate, confront, make decisions, or steward authority. A good person can still lead poorly if never taught how to lead. Organizations should therefore develop both character and leadership competence rather than assuming one guarantees the other.
